I will be dedicated to the oath that I will take
to serve, protect, and defend," says Bill Patterson.
"Law enforcement is the life that I chose and the life that I love," said Bill Patterson recently when asked why he intended to run for Sheriff of Okaloosa County.
According to our state constitution, the elected Sheriff is the chief law enforcement official of the county. As such, he reports directly and only to the citizens whom he serves. Because he is elected, the sheriff has the freedom to represent the will of the people without the burdensome constraints of bureaucracy and politics. I will be dedicated to the oath that I will take to serve, protect, and defend the lawful citizens of Okaloosa County.
My philosophies are all geared to be tough on crime and those who commit crime. Overall, it is my belief that a person who commits a crime should be held accountable and face the consequences of their actions. In direct terms, they should receive just punishment for their lack of responsibility and discipline.
I want to be a tough law enforcement sheriff, but I also want myself and my employees to be forward thinking law enforcement professionals. Together, we will do a lot of good things for Okaloosa County.
