Institute Budget Restraint
For example, I will be recruiting many volunteers for the posse. My goal as sheriff will be to have an operating force of over one hundred and fifty posse personnel. I will not be replacing members of the regular deputy force, but rather with a stronger commitment to the posse, I will have a force to augment our efforts. These men and women will serve Okaloosa County at little or no additional cost as dedicated volunteers that will even provide their own equipment in many cases. This step will greatly increase the cost effectiveness of our sheriff’s department. It is my belief, that the people of this country can solve many of our most pressing problems with their own efforts. I will support their efforts.
Enforce the US constitution and local laws as they pertain to illegal aliens
This concern affects all of us in one way or another. The continuing growth of illegal aliens in our communities has peaked under the present sheriff’s watch. We can no longer wait for Washington or for our State Government to tackle this problem. We must face it head on at the county level. Naturally, many foreign nationals are law abiding citizens and are assets to our community. However, by definition, an illegal alien is breaking our laws by being in our community. This must not be tolerated. Our laws are instituted for good reason. We must do our part at every level, including within the Sheriff’s department to protect our community from this illegal element.
Our current sheriff was mandated to be tough on this issue and to take action. He has not met this challenge. Illegal aliens are breaking our laws and it is the sheriff’s responsibility to enforce our laws. The conclusion is obvious.
Institute “Tougher Drug Law Enforcement”
I plan to increase our commitment to drug enforcement laws in order to protect the family unit from the severe damage that is inflicted on our community by drug related crime. Your Sheriff must be visible, not only to you, but to the criminal element. I will be tough on the enforcement of drug related laws. Drug dealers in Okaloosa County have taken a toll on all of our families. I will be relentless in bringing drug related crimes to successful prosecution, thereby removing these drug dealers from our communities.
Make “Safer Neighborhoods” my priority
I believe that the family is the heart of our society. My sheriff’s department will be visible in your neighborhoods. Not to intimidate the lawful, but to keep the criminal element on notice. My commitment to Okaloosa County residents is safe neighborhoods where the family unit can nurture.
With your help and support, I will provide new leadership and new direction within the sheriff’s department. I need your support to provide us all with this opportunity. As your sheriff, I will make one commitment to you and your family.
