Patterson on Qualifications For Sheriff

I am qualified to be the next Sheriff of Okaloosa County.  Twenty-eight years of working my way up through the ranks in the non-commissioned officer's corps from junior to senior has not only provided me with the experience of doing hazardous jobs and making life and death decisions in real time but has also taught me how to train and educate those working for me.  I have significant experience in not only training but writing the training manuals, setting up the training schedules, and ensuring that those who worked for me were prepared to serve the people. My goal in the near term is to significantly enhance the quality and degree of professional law enforcement in the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.  Professionalism equals training, education and attitude. One of the goals of my Sheriff's Office will be quality people with a professional attitude and accreditation. Quality law enforcement is the key to public safety and a healthy environment to live, work and raise your family. My office will provide quality law enforcement county-wide.

Okaloosa County is changing.  The Sheriff's office will have to adapt. The county is about to accommodate the decisions of the Base Realignment Committee [BRAC] which will bring a large number of new families to our neighborhood.

Support is our road to success.  The supporting petition signatures that have put me on the ballot came from a very diverse cross section of the population of Okaloosa County who have decided that they wanted me to run for sheriff. I welcome your input, questions, and concerns. I welcome your contributions to our success.
